Join us for an interesting evening where we will hear from two Israeli Mount Sinai Hospital Fellows who have taken distinct paths to get where they are today:

1. Maru Gete

Maru was born in Macha, Ethiopia and made Aliya to Israel in 1992 at the age of 9.

He graduated Medical school in Israel at Ben-Gurion University and

completed a residency in Otolaryngology head and neck surgery at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.

Maru is currently in a fellowship at Mount Sinai hospital in the area of head and neck oncology, sinus and skull base surgery.

2. Nana Maklada

Dr. Nana Maklada is an Emergency Medicine Specialist working at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, also known as Ichiliov Hospital. She is currently in Toronto doing an Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital. Nana grew up in Daliat-El-Carmel, a Druze village located on Mount Carmel in the north of Israel. Being a woman from the Druze community has presented unique experiences especially in Nana's journey to becoming a physician, where at age 18, she travelled alone to Maldova to study medicine.

Dr. Maklada reflects that in every journey there are challenges, sacrifices and successes. She has learned that one doesn't realize their own strength until they come face to face with their greatest weakness.

About the association

Dedicated to the promotion of professional & cultural ties between Jewish physicians in Israel & their colleagues abroad.

Supports Canadian medical students who take their electives in Israel, Canadian doctors in Israel and Israeli doctors in Canada . Also carries out educational activities locally, including lectures, symposia, and dinner meetings.
